Manchester United 4-0 Sabah: three first-half goals settle it
AI-written review based on match data · How we make it
Key numbers
- 10 shots on target to 0: Sabah never tested Lammens
- 3-0 at half-time; United led for 63 minutes
- 27' Cunha opener worth +0.7 FN xPts
Out of sight by the interval
Manchester United were comfortable by half-time. Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in the 27th minute, Bruno Fernandes added a second in the 42nd, and Benjamin Šeško made it 3-0 in the 45th. The match was settled before the break, and Lisandro Martínez's goal in the 68th minute merely extended a scoreline that was already beyond doubt.
Sabah never found the target
Sabah did take 11 shots, but every one was either blocked or off target. S. Pokatilov made five saves and still conceded four, because United put 10 efforts on target. Not one Sabah shot tested Senne Lammens, who finished the evening without a save to make.
Fernandes creates, Dorgu does everything
Fernandes led all players with four key passes and scored himself. Patrick Dorgu, nominally a defender, set up the opening goal and won eight of his ten duels. A full-back doing creative work was a fair summary of how United's attacks were built, with the pair involved in the platform for the three first-half goals.
The opener carried the most weight
Cunha's 27th-minute goal was worth +0.7 FN xPts, because it turned a goalless match into one United led. Fernandes's second added +0.4. The opener did the heavy lifting, with everything after it landing on a contest already tilting towards the hosts.
Player of the match
Patrick Dorgu 8.7Dominant
He was first in the FN Score and set up Matheus Cunha's opener in the 27th minute.
Dorgu scored heavily in attack and in defence. He created three chances, made four tackles and two blocks, and won eight of his ten duels. During his 72 minutes on the pitch United scored four times without conceding, and his assist gave them the lead that shaped the rest of the match.

Expected points don't add up to a fixed total (a draw is 1 + 1), so an opponent's moment isn't simply the mirror of your loss. "Time effect" is the change as the clock runs down on a lead or a chase, and isn't credited to any player.
